Should be orange for constant +12V, which runs the pump when the relay is triggered. When working properly, what stops the pump after 5 seconds of priming? And while I will fix this, is there any issue with moving forward with instructions on how to do my first crank, fire, etc.? The key DOES turn it on & off, as I said, it just doesn't stop priming.Īlso, on that thread you listed, if that RED +12V wire he mentions is the red relay wire, then that's why it won't stop. I simply bypassed the old relay, and now the Holley/green wire is wired directly to the new relay via the old factory wiring. Per the Racetronix Hotwire Kit, the OLD relay is now simply supposed to trigger the NEW relay. Now, obviously it's possible something isn't wired right, but I've been over it again & again, and I can't see what it would be. Per the instructions, I turned the key to prime the pump. Global Folder is uploaded and I'm seeing sensor info on my laptop. The problem is the "snout" on the male connectors can snap off, leaving the QD open and dumping gas. BMW issued recall that seems to have been half-hearted. I'd think hard about farming the job out to someone who knows the FI system well.īack to the QD's. Assuming the pump does work, then you'll have to go through the FI system, cleaning out deposits. You might have a wiring issue (not likely). If not, the pump's probably toast, but first check for 12V at the pump's leads. Turn on the key, and fuel should come out of the lanes from the tank. To test if the pump's pumping gas (please be careful here!), the QD's on the tank side must come off. ![]() There are valves in the QD's so fuel doesn't spill out when removing the tank to get to the air filter, etc. Disconnecting the quick disconnects (QD's) will not open up the fuel lines. It's probably (I haven't listened to mine) a ticking sound, not a whirr or hum.Īs with any fuel injection system, there's fuel going out to the injectors and excess or unused fuel returned to be sent back out, etc. It should be possible to hear the pump running. If they're dry, are you sure the transmission is in neutral and the kill switch is in the right position? The interlock and/or kill switch will let the engine crank but not fire.
